About Thea

Green eyes are the first surprise with Thea, clear and bright against long caramel blonde hair. She is 165 cm and curvy, with a sunlit, natural look that needs very little help: a soft cotton dress or a fitted knit and jeans, white trainers by day, a simple heel at night, hardly any make-up. She is the rare person who looks better after a long walk in the wind, and she knows it, and she makes no fuss about it.

Cheerful, warm and thoroughly down to earth, Thea puts people at ease within minutes. Her English is fluent and friendly. Given any excuse she heads for open hills; in town she cycles rather than taking the Tube, and she eats Japanese food with the devotion of someone who has seriously considered moving to Tokyo. This week she is away on foot somewhere high and green, and she returns on 22 September, ready for easy suppers and good conversation.

Her Canary Wharf evening is Roka, the Japanese robata restaurant on the edge of Canada Square Park, where the chefs work the charcoal grill in full view. She sits at the counter if she can, orders a spread of skewers and something raw, and talks to the chefs almost as much as to you. Afterwards she likes a short walk through the park and down to the dock, where the water holds the tower lights perfectly still.

Thea lives in South Kensington, around forty minutes away, and will happily cycle over when the weather allows. See Canary Wharf for hotels near the park, rates for each length, and message booking to hold an evening after her return.

04 · After the close

Thea after six

Thea's ideal evening begins at the counter at seven, with a cold glass of sake and a good view of the grill. She orders too much on purpose, shares everything and describes a ridge from her last trip, the one with the view that made her sit down for ten minutes without saying a word.

She is easy company in the truest sense. There is no performance and no angle, just warmth and a good deal of laughter. After dinner she wants to walk, even if only once around the park, because she believes every good meal deserves a few hundred steps after it. By ten you will feel as though you have known her for years, and she will be planning your next hike.

05 · In her own words

Three questions for Thea

Counter, every time. You watch the chefs, they watch you enjoy it, and everyone in the room ends up a little happier.

The North Downs on a clear autumn day, then a pub lunch that takes longer than the walk did. That is the correct order, and I will not be argued with.

Because London looks completely different at twelve miles an hour. And because I flatly refuse to pay for a gym.
