About Tiffany

Tiffany has a way of making a hotel bar look as though it was designed around her. She is 169 cm with a petite, fine-boned build, chocolate brown hair worn long, brown eyes, and a graceful, easy way of sitting that photographs beautifully without her ever posing. Her style is boho glamour with a flash of sparkle: a sequinned top under a soft blazer, a draped skirt, delicate gold, hair loose or braided back with small ornaments. She is polished, but never stiff.

Tiffany is graceful and playful by turns, and fiercely observant throughout. She will spot the cufflinks you almost left at home and the book in your bag, and she will ask about both. Her English is fluent, light and teasing. She photographs cities on foot, treats champagne as the right answer to even the smallest occasion, and studies design hotels as a hobby. She keeps a list of the best hotel lobbies in London and updates it with real seriousness.

Her Canary Wharf evening begins at Tribe London Canary Wharf, the design-led hotel near the squares, where the bar is all texture and warm lamps. She orders two glasses of champagne as the office towers begin to empty, raises one to the end of your working day and takes a quick photograph of the bubbles against the window light. Then a walk through the squares at dusk, and dinner somewhere she has already scouted.

Tiffany is based in Soho, a short Elizabeth line hop from the Wharf, and her diary is most open midweek, straight after office hours. Hotels around the squares are on the Canary Wharf page; the lengths are on rates, and booking confirms her by message.

04 · After the close

Tiffany after six

The ideal Tiffany evening begins on a Wednesday at twenty past six, the moment your last call ends. She is at the bar with a glass already poured and a second waiting beside it. She toasts the end of the day, asks what went well and politely refuses to hear about what did not.

Then comes the walk: Cabot Square, the water features of Jubilee Park, the dock under the footbridge, her camera catching the last blue light between the towers. She notices a reflection in a puddle that you would have stepped straight through. Dinner is somewhere small and well designed, and she will give you her verdict on the chairs. She is usually right about chairs, and about most other things too.

Three questions for Tiffany

It changes every month, which is the whole point of keeping a list. This month it is somewhere with a velvet sofa and very quiet carpet.

Because Wednesdays need it most. Fridays are perfectly capable of celebrating themselves without any help from me or anyone else.

Reflections. Windows, puddles, the dock at dusk. The city is twice as interesting upside down, and nobody else is looking.
