Toned and athletic companions who would rather walk the last mile
Five companions with athletic builds, kept that way by things they enjoy rather than by routine. Angelika plays tennis. Laura rides and skis. Sonya dances. Nora and Tina stay in shape without turning it into a sport. None of it is for show. It turns up instead as energy at eleven at night and a preference for walking the last stretch home.
The Wharf rewards that preference. The estate is threaded with docks, footbridges and river paths, and several of its best corners are easier reached on foot than by car. Each of these five has a route she likes. Here they are, one by one.

Angelika: a circuit of the dock after the second set
From the live music room in Cabot Place, Angelika takes the long way back, a slow circuit of the water under the footbridges with the towers lit above. Straight black hair, 172 cm, playful and direct, with contemporary art as her daytime habit and an opinion on every sculpture she passes. She is usually free from seven.
Laura: over the Thames by cable car
Laura starts at the Royal Victoria Dock end of the cable car and crosses to the Greenwich Peninsula as the light drops, then follows the riverside path to a drink on the far bank. Green eyes, sun-lightened hair, a rider and skier with a weakness for slow travel in Italy. She is often free the same day.
Nora: a lap of Royal Victoria Dock
Nora meets late arrivals from London City Airport, and her walk comes after the short taxi ride: a lap of Royal Victoria Dock under the drifting cable car cabins, then a hotel bar where the bottle is already cold. Honey blonde, hazel eyes flecked with green, quick to laugh. A day of notice suits her.
Sonya: through the park after the performance
Sonya moves like the dancer she is. After an early performance at Sadler's Wells East she walks you through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, lit and quiet by then, to a light supper beside the water. She books between five and ten, which makes her the natural choice for an early evening that ends in good time.
Tina: down to the dock with the music still going
Tina is compact, 158 cm, with espresso brown hair and a designer's eye for what everyone else is wearing. After the band at Crossrail Place she heads straight for the dock, still talking about the records the set borrowed from, and usually suggests one more stop on the way. She says yes on the night more often than not.
Planning an evening that moves
Walking evenings need a little more time than seated ones. Two hours at £500 is the practical minimum for any of these routes, and three hours at £700 lets the walk be a pleasure rather than a commute.
